Carol has been with ABQ Childcare for over 30 years, beginning her career in the classroom. As she gained experience, she advanced into a Director role, where she developed extensive knowledge in management as well as ever-changing state and accrediting regulations. Carol has consistently upheld high standards for herself and her staff, ensuring full compliance with policies and guidelines. She is currently finishing her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, further strengthening her expertise in the field.

Alvarado's campus features shaded outdoor classrooms that allow teachers to bring learning outside year-round. These covered play spaces protect children from the strong New Mexico sun while keeping them active and engaged, and give teachers a flexible environment for art, science, and dramatic play that wouldn't fit inside a traditional classroom.
Director Carol Armijo has been with Alvarado Day School for over 30 years. Her credentials include the National Administrative Credential (NAC), Child Development Associates (CDA), and she is currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Multicultural Education. Carol's long tenure and deep roots near Nob Hill make Alvarado a place where families feel at home from their very first tour.
Alvarado provides van transportation to and from the following elementary schools every school day:
Alvarado Day School is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, year round. We are closed on weekends and major holidays.
Alvarado accepts children from 6 weeks through 12 years old. Programs include Infants (6 weeks to 12 months), Toddlers (1 to 3 years), Early Pre-K (3 to 4 years), Pre-K (4 to 5 years), and School Age before-and-after-school care (5 to 12 years).
Yes. Alvarado operates van transportation to three elementary schools: Emerson, Whittier, and Bandelier. Drivers pick up students after school and drop off before school each weekday.
